Principal

Principal Derek Nicholson's 22 years of experience shapes his perspective and expertise in representing the interests of the client, architect and contractor. Prior to forming Derek Nicholson Inc., Derek obtained his degree in architectural science from Ryerson University, and subsequently spent 17 years managing design services for the City of North York's Parks and Recreation Department. There, he commissioned some of Canada's most talented architects to design public projects for civic enjoyment. Since 1999, he has served as an independent architectural consultant, project manager and contractor for projects that have been recognized by significant national and international awards and publications.

An enthusiast of contemporary architecture, Derek has actively supported growth and innovation within the Canadian architectural community. He has collaborated with some of the country's most celebrated architects, and participated as a guest lecturer and speaker at universities in Canada and the United States, and as a jury member of national design awards and competitions.
